A Better Place in China

A few months ago, I wrote about BP, the oil spill and the lack of support for progressive technologies to liberate us from the oil consumption chain. At the time of the writing, almost a year ago, few places had given any thoughts of using the technology and infrastructure suggested by Better Place, an Israeli company that is trying to facilitate the introduction of electric cars.

Today, a report out of Tel Aviv. Better Place has signed a deal with, out of all places, China, to start negotiations to implement battery-switching technology in the most populous country in the world.

Report is featured at http://green.autoblog.com/2011/05/02/better-place-signs-deal-in-china-state-grid-wants-2-300-swap-st/ .

This would be, indeed, a game changer for electric cars. I believe strongly in Shai Agassi and Better Place. This maybe indeed, the jumpstart (pun intended) that will propel the electric car as a viable alternative to internal combustion engines.

Yet another example of the fabulous technology developed every day in Israel. I suggest reading Startup Nation. Available on Kindle on amazon.com. In Canada, try Indigo-Chapters.

There may be light, really, electric light at the end of the tunnel.
